Safety on CoachPlus
How coaches are checked, how payments and cancellations work, and how to raise a concern.
Checks you can see
Each coach's page shows which checks they hold. Coaches can add a current police check and first-aid certificate, and we check the documents before the badge shows. Checks from a sport's coach register, such as Tennis NZ's, name that register on the coach's page.
Secure payments
All payments are processed by Stripe. CoachPlus never sees your full card number.
Clear cancellation rules
Each coach sets a cancellation window, 24 hours unless they choose otherwise. Cancel or reschedule before it at no cost. Inside it, the charge stands, so the coach is paid for holding the time. If a coach cancels, you are always refunded in full.
Coach protection
No-shows still get paid, and disputes are handled by CoachPlus, not the coach.
Real human support
Reply to your booking confirmation or email hello@coachplus.co.nz, and a person replies within one business day.
Our safety rules
How we operate
Medical and injury disclosures
Bookers must let coaches know about medical conditions, injuries, or limitations before a session. Coaches can change or decline a session on safety grounds.
Under 18s
Bookings for anyone under 18 must be made by a parent or legal guardian.
First aid
Coaches showing the first aid badge hold a certificate, checked by us or by the sport's coach register named on their page.
Venue safety
Coaches choose venues they know. If a venue becomes unsafe (hazard, closure, etc), we help coaches cancel, and everyone affected is refunded in full.
Reporting concerns
If you're uncomfortable with a coach, booker, or session, email safety@coachplus.co.nz. We treat every report confidentially and seriously.
Safe sport
We follow Sport NZ's safeguarding guidance and cooperate with the Integrity Sport and Recreation Commission (Te Kahu Raunui) on any concern referred to it.
